ZGMF-X09A Justice Gundam
Share
The ZGMF-X09A Justice Gundam is a mobile suit introduced in Mobile Suit Gundam SEED and it is piloted by Asran Zala .
Features
One of ZAFT's five ZGMF-X Gundam units produced in CE 71 using technology derived from the Alliance's four Gundams, the Justice Gundam's main feature is the Fatum-00 unit on its back. This complex weaponry unit normally serves as the primary thruster, providing crushing acceleration as well as mobility when deployed horizontally, and this configuration is also known as "High-Mobility Aerial Tactics (HiMAT) Mode". It also grants atmospheric flight capabilities and can be deployed as an autonomous unmanned unit or flight sub-unit. It is armed with beam cannons and machine guns.
Justice's other weapons include Beam Sabers, Beam Rifle, Shield, Beam Boomerangs, and head-mounted CIWS guns. In comparison to other ZGMF-X Gundam units, the Justice's armament is relatively simple and the firepower less than its sibling, the ZGMF-X10A Freedom Gundam . However, the Justice's true value lies in its incredible mobility and the various tactics it can use with the Fatum-00. It can also dock with a support unit, the METEOR unit, for higher firepower and greater speed, and has an advanced targeting system, the Multi Lock-On System, which allows it to fire on several enemy units simultaneously.
Justice also has a tall sensor column on top of his head, similar to that of the GAT-X303 Aegis Gundam , and this enhances his ability to gather and collect battlefield information. It is designed to be used alongside the Freedom and for this purpose, the Eternal warship is designed specifically to service both MS. Like the other four ZGMF-X Gundam units, Justice is shielded with Phase Shift Armor and has virtually unlimited combat stamina as it is powered by a nuclear reactor thanks to the Neutron Jammer Canceller.
- Fatum-00
Justice's most unique feature is the Fatum-00 unit on its back. When deployed horizontally, it allows the Justice Gundam to enter "High Mobility Aerial Tactics (HiMAT) Mode" for higher acceleration and mobility. It is also detachable and able to operate independently due to its AI system or be controlled remotely. In this form, it serves as a support unit or sub-flight unit, like the Guul, for the Justice Gundam or other Mobile Suits. As an unmanned unit, it is used alongside the Justice Gundam in a variety of ways and can even be launched at an enemy unit as a guided missile. The Fatum-00 mounts two "Fortis" MA-4B beam cannons, two M9M9 "Cervus" machine guns and four GAU5 "Volucris" machine guns. All of these weapons are usable whether the Fatum-00 is attached or detached from the Justice. These weapons can also be used by other MS if they are on the Fatum-00.
- Neutron Jammer Canceller
As with the other four ZGMF-X series Gundam units produced during this period, the Justice is equipped with a Neutron Jammer Canceller (N-Jammer Canceller) device, which neutralizes the effects of ubiquitous neutron jammers and allows these MS to be powered by nuclear reactors to use a nuclear fission reactor. This gives them almost unlimited combat stamina, even with Phase Shift armor enabled.
- Phase Shift Armor
Like all Project G machines before it, the Justice is equipped with phase-shifting armor called Phase Shift. When this armor is activated, the Justice's color changes from light gray to red with hints of black and white (and some yellow). The Phase Shift armor makes the Justice immune to physical attacks such as bullets, sword strikes, missiles, etc. Thanks to his N-Jammer Canceller he has a permanent Phase Shift.
- Multi Lock-On System
As the name suggests, this unique system allows the Justice to target multiple enemies and attack them simultaneously. To effectively use this system, the pilot must have a high spatial awareness capability, which is rare even among Coordinators . This system can also be used when the Justice is docked to the METEOR unit, it is also the only times when the Justice is docked to the METEOR that Asran uses this system.
- Operating System
The Justice uses the Generation Unsbdued Nuclear Drive Assault Mode complex operating system.
- METEOR Unit
Like Freedom, Justice can dock with the powerful METEOR unit, a large mobile weapons platform with powerful thrusters and more powerful beam cannons of the same caliber as battleships, large beam swords and dozens of heavy missile launchers.
Armaments
- MMI-GAU1 "Sagittus" 20mm CIWS: Mounted in the head, two on each side, these small caliber guns have a rapid rate of fire and are effective in restricting enemy movement and in close combat.
- BURQM51 "Bassel" Beam Boomerang: Two RQM51 "Bassel" beam boomerangs are stored on the shoulders, they throw weapons that emit a short beam type blade, and can return to the owner after being thrown, often used to damage enemy units by surprise. Unlike other boomerangs which have a V-shape when the blade is activated, Justice's boomerang takes a Y-shape when the blade is activated, the solid part splits in two when the weapon is used.
- MA-M20 "Lupus" Beam Rifle: The Justice uses a MA-M20 "Lupus" High Energy Beam Rifle, which is the same rifle used by its sister unit the ZGMF-X10A Freedom Gundam. This Beam Rifle is stronger than the ones used by the original GAT-X series or the ZGMF-600 GuAIZ because it is powered by the MS's nuclear reactor. It can be stored on the rear skirt armor when not in use.
- MA-M01 "Lacerta" Beam Saber: The Justice's primary close combat weapons are two MA-M01 "Lacerta" beam sabers, which are stored at hip level. As with the Beam Rifle, the same type of Beam Saber is used by the Freedom. Since the sabers are powered by the MS's nuclear reactor, they have a higher output than those used by the original GAT-X series. Both sabers can be combined into a double-edged saber, and this form is known as the "Ambidextrous Halberd". Asran regularly uses this configuration.
- Laminated Anti-beam Shield: Hand-held and/or mounted on the left forearm, Justice's shield has a laminated armor surface instead of an anti-beam coating like on the shields used by most MS. The same type of shield is also used by the Freedom Gundam.
- MA-4B "Fortis" Beam Cannon: Main weapon of the Fatum-00, the pair of "Fortis" guns are mounted on the front of the module, it has an excellent rate of fire.
- M9M9 "Cervus" Turret Machine Gun: Mounted on the Fatum-00, at the level of the engine block. The turrets are 360° mobile, so they can hit enemies in any direction. They are used mainly to intercept enemies or nearby enemies, they can also be used when the Fatum-00 is used alone.
- GAU5 "Volucris" Machine Gun: Mounted between the engine blocks and the barrels of the Fatum-00, the four "Volucris" machine guns can fire explosive rounds and armor-piercing rounds. they are primarily used to shoot down missiles or close enemy units, especially when the Fatum-00 is used as a separate support unit.
History
On April 1, CE 71, ZAFT released two new Mobile Suit type machines, ZGMF-X09A and ZGMF-X10A and they were named "Justice" and "
Freedom" respectively by PLANT Supreme Council Chairman Patrick Zala. Both machines were part of a series of advanced MSs developed based on technology reverse-engineered from captured MSs Earth Alliance G Project. weapons of Justice and Freedom were tested on the experimental MS GuAIZ YFX-600R.
More than a month later, on May 17, CE 71, Asran Zala, former pilot of the GAT-X303 Aegis Gundam , was given the mission to recover or destroy the stolen Freedom. Instead, Asran joins forces with Freedom's pilot, his old friend Kira Yamato , to defend the neutral nation of Orb from attacks by the Earth Alliance. Later, Asran encountered the support ship FFMH-Y101 Eternal, which was carrying two METEOR units.
Did you know?
- The Justice's head emblem displays the text "X-09A NOVE". "Nove" means "new" in Italian and refers to its model number.
- The lower torso and legs are similar to the ZGMF-515 CGUE and AMF-101 DINN, making it visually more like a machine produced by ZAFT.
- The 'Ambidextrous Halberd' shape of the "Lacerta" beam sabers recalls the double beam sword of the MS-14A Gelgoog.
- When the Justice destroys the GAT-X370 Raider Gundam's hammer, it was colored with yellow rather than green eyes in its close-up. The error has been fixed in the HD remaster.
- Asran tells Dearka Elsman that he wanted him to inherit Justice if anything happened to him; Dearka declined the offer.
- The Fatum-00 bacpack can be separated and used remotely, like the rear motor of the ZMT-S28S Gengaozo.
- Justice is considered Mobile Armor when mounting the Fatum-00 in Gundam Battle Assault 3: Featuring Gundam SEED.
- In January 2023, Japanese site Gundam.info announced that the Justice Gundam had won an online census, where fans voted for a new Master Grade SD Gunpla to celebrate the release of MGSD ZGMF-X10A Freedom Gundam. Since then, there has been no follow-up regarding a Justice Gundam in Bandai's MGSD.
