MSM-04 Acguy

The MSM-04 Acguy (アッガイ Aggai?) is an amphibious Mobile Suit introduced
in the Mobile Suit Gundam anime, and seen in The Origin and Thunderbolt.
Features
After the Zimmad Company's MSM-03 Gogg, the Zeonic Company produced its own amphibious machine for the Principality of Zeon, the MSM-04 Acguy. The Acguy used many of the same parts and components as the MS-06F Zaku II, including two of the ultra-compact Minovsky fusion reactors used by the latter. Even with dual reactors, the Acguy leaves no trace of heat, making it effective for stealth and infiltration operations. It is also one of the tallest amphibious Mobile Suits used by Zeon during the war. About 60 units were produced according to some sources.
The Acguy's weapons consist of four 105mm Vulcan cannons mounted in her exceptionally large head. In his right forearm a particle cannon, but in some units it has been replaced by a Vulcan cannon. The right forearm also had extendable claws known as the Iron Nail (with an extendable arm to increase striking distance) for hitting MS and Federation bunkers. In the left forearm is a six-tube missile launcher. Some models also had missile launchers in the right forearm, replacing the mega particle cannon and claws.
Thunderbolt
The amphibious Acguy used by Daryl Lorenz's team is noticeably smaller than the standard version, standing around 12 meters tall. Its Iron Nails have been replaced with three-finger manipulators, and its head, arms, and back can be equipped with various optional units, such as sensors and weapons, for specific roles.
The Enemy Search Type specializes in intelligence gathering and command, the Firepower Type provides fire support and serves as the rear guard, the Heavy Firepower Type acts as the primary combat element, and the Maneuver Type serves as the front -guard, scout, and support other units.
- Sensor Visor
Flexible sensor visor used by Enemy Search guy.
- Sensor Arm
Replaces left arm of Enemy Search type.
- Mission Packs
Each Acguy can be equipped with a backpack with various equipment according to their role.
- Enemy Search Type: The Enemy Search Type mission pack has an antenna for laser communication, as well as a sonar probe system similar to that used by the Federation Hover Truck.
- Firepower Type: The Firepower type mission pack consists of a mine scattering unit called "Rear Guard System" as well as thrusters. As the name suggests, the rearguard system was intended to buy time for friendly forces during a retreat.
- Heavy Firepower Type: This pack contains the Iron Blade.
- Maneuver Type Unit A: Equipped with a periscope.
- Maneuver Type Unit B: Contains four additional magazines for the Machine Gun FirePower Zaku Type.
Armaments
- 105mm Vulcan Gun: Small pocket turrets found on top of head. They unleash a flurry of fire for close combat and for taking down smaller units.
- 6-tube Missile Launcher: Missiles can be fired from his left arm quickly to destroy MS, ground vehicles and buildings. Missiles are usually fired individually.
- Mega Particle Cannon: Powerful beams can be fired from the right arm to pierce enemy armor and buildings for effective damage. It is often used at medium or long range.
- Vulcan Gun: Some Acguys have another Vulcan Gun in their right arm instead of the Particle Cannon.
- Iron Nail: Mounted in the right arm are six extendable claws for stabbing MS. When not in use, the claws are hidden in the arm. The claws can also be used as a grappling hook as seen during the invasion of Jaburo when a group of Acguys were going through the tunnels of Jaburo and can function as a manipulator if needed.
- Beam Saber: A beam saber that can shoot out of the center of the hands (only used in the manga version of Thunderbolt).
- 10-tube Missile Launcher: Instead of the four headed Vulcan cannons, the Acguy (Thunderbolt Ver.) is equipped with ten missile launchers on its head. In addition to standard ammo, they can also be loaded with smoke and freeze ammo.
- Weapon Clustabattreer Unit (Unit A): The cluster weapon unit used by Unit A. It is encased in weatherproof panels similar to the MSM-03C Hygogg's hand missile unit, which can be purged when out of the water.
- Zaku Machine Gun: The same type of 120mm machine gun used by the Zaku. It can be reloaded with drum magazines carried by the Maneuver Type.
- TOW Missile Launcher: Fires self-guided missiles, capable of tracking their targets despite Minovsky particles .
- Weapon Cluster Unit (Unit B): The cluster weapon unit used by Unit B. It is encased in weatherproof panels similar to the MSM-03C Hygogg's hand missile unit, which can be purged out of the water.
- Zaku Machine Gun: The same type of 120mm machine gun used by the Zaku. It can be reloaded with drum magazines carried by the Maneuver Type.
- Flame thrower
- Anti-MS Bola: A weapon that launches bolas that can entangle the feet of enemy machines, immobilizing them.
- Anti MS Bayonet
- Spray Missile Launcher
- Iron Blade: A type of unheated blade similar to the Iron Nail, it is both sharp and durable. It is stored in the Heavy Firepower type mission pack.
- Heat Blade: Superheated bladed weapon crafted using the edge of a Heat Hawk. It is used by the Maneuver Type A unit.
- Tinbe Shiled: A shield using Gogg's head armor. It is used by the Maneuver Type A unit.
- Cross Shield: A shield modeled after the MS-06K Zaku Cannon shoulder shields. It is used by the Maneuver Type B unit.
History
Several MSM-04 Acguys snuck into Federation headquarters in Jaburo on November 30 in UC 0079 on a covert mission to destroy the Federation's Mobile Suit production facilities, which were used to produce their MS RGM-79 GM mass produced.
Did you know?
- The Acguy has a large fanbase who consider him special and among the best. It's also a joke.
- There are many conflicting accounts as to whether the weapon mounted on the Acguy's right arm was a Vulcan cannon or a particle cannon. The HGUC manual suggested that most units were armed with a Vulcan Cannon, while a few were armed with a Particle Cannon.
- In Mobile Suit Gundam: Extreme Vs., Acguy has the ability to summon his later variants to attack, namely the MSM-04G Juaggu and MSM-04N Agguguy. The victory screen even brought them together as a group despite never being fielded side by side.
- In the late 90s, a Japanese fansite listed the manufacturer of the Acguy as a company named "Zwinemn". No such company existed in official media at the time, but in 2003 Zwinemn was introduced into the Gundam canon when Anaheim Journal listed it as the manufacturer of Acguy. It also received a logo.
- The 2005 MG Acguy manual stated that the Acguy was manufactured by Zeonic. This conflict was later resolved in the manga Acguy Hakase, which stated that Zeonic had absorbed Zwinemn, which led to the development of the Acguy.
