GAT-X105 Strike Gundam

GAT-X105 Strike Gundam

The GAT-X105 Strike Gundam is a prototype multi-mode Mobile Suit featured in the anime Mobile Suit Gundam SEED . Its first pilot was Kira Yamato before it was passed on to former Mobile Armor ace Mu La Flaga.

Features

The Strike Gundam is the most versatile of the Earth Alliance's five Project G Gundams and can be easily configured for different types of combat. Thanks to his Striker Packs, he can be equipped for high mobility combat (Aile Strike), long-range assault (Launcher Strike) or melee combat (Sword Strike). Additionally, Striker Packs are also equipped with backup batteries that can extend the usage time of the Strike. Built on the X100 series chassis first adopted by the GAT-X102 Duel Gundam, the Strike also features the Phase Shift armor system. In terms of armament, the Strike itself only comes equipped with two head-mounted CIWS and a pair of combat knives stowed in the side skirt armor, but it can also be armed with a bazooka, a shield and a Beam Riffle. Later, the Strike Gundam was equipped with a special OS for natural pilots, which will allow its new pilot, Mu La Flaga, to effectively control the Gundam.

  • Phase Shift Armor

Like all Project G machines, the Strike is equipped with phase shift armor called Phase Shift. When this armor is activated, the Strike's color changes from light gray to white with a few hints of blue and red. Phase Shift armor makes the Strike immune to physical attacks such as bullets, sword slashes, missiles, etc. However, the Phase Shift continually drains battery power, reducing the MS's stamina in combat, and consumes additional power when hit.

Armaments

  • "Igelstellung" 75mm Automatic Mutli-barrel CIWS: Anti-aircraft guns mounted on either side of the head. These light projectile weapons are used to intercept missiles, destroy lightly armored vehicles, etc.
  • "Armor Schneider" Combat Knives: In the Strike's side skirt armor is a pair of "Armor Schneider" folding combat knives. These knives do not need to be powered by the MS, they can be thrown, and their blades vibrate at high speed, allowing them to pierce most armor except Phase Shift armor.
  • 57mm High-energy Beam Rifle: The Strike's primary ranged weapon, it can be stowed on the side of the skirt armor and can easily destroy a ZGMF-1017 GINN with a single shot, but is generally ineffective against MS with an anti-beam coating ( anti-beam coating). It has an additional handle that can be moved to the side and is often used to add stability when the Strike fires its rifle quickly.
  • Bazooka: An optional ranged weapon, the bazooka fires high explosive shells and is loaded with four magazines. As it is a conventional weapon, it does not draw energy from the Strike's battery, which helps increase combat endurance. Another advantage is that the Bazooka can be used underwater, unlike the Beam Riffle. The downside to this weapon is that its larger size and weight makes it a bit less mobile than the Beam Riffle. In the Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Re: manga, the Bazooka features an alternate Shrapnel ammunition.
  • Shield: This is a piece of equipment designed to increase the defensive capacity of the Strike. It is mounted on the left forearm and/or on the hand. The shield doesn't have Phase Shift armor so it's not as tough as Strike armor, but it doesn't drain energy each time it's hit. The main advantage of the shield is that it has an anti-beam coating and can block or deflect attacks from beam weapons, which Phase Shift is ineffective against. The same shield is also used by the GAT-X102 Duel Gundam and other MS.

Variants

  • GAT-X105+AQM/E-X01 Aile Strike Gundam : The AQM/E-X01 Aile Striker is the most commonly equipped Striker Pack for Strike because it offers the most versatility. Thanks to the powerful vernier thrusters built into the Striker Wing, the Strike Gundam becomes a combat MS
all-rounder with increased speed and maneuverability over its base abilities. Despite their power, the thrusters are not powerful enough to allow true flight in the Earth's atmosphere. However, they allow the Strike to hover in the air for a short time and improve its jumping abilities to the point where it can fight off MS on low-flying Guuls. In addition to the standard armament of the GAT-X105 Strike Gundam, the Wing Striker Pack adds a pair of Beam Sabers to the armament of the MS.
  • GAT-X105+AQM/E-X02 Sword Strike Gundam: The Sword Strike is an MS designed for close combat, making it the most appropriate choice in an area where little collateral damage can be risked, such as inside a colony or in the hangar of an aircraft. an allied base. In addition to the armament mounted on the GAT-X105 Strike Gundam itself (which includes head-mounted CIWS cannons and combat knives), the Sword Striker adds a large anti-ship sword. , a retractable claw (rocket anchor) and a boomerang (beam boomerang) to the armament of the MS.
Of all the Striker Packs available for the Strike, Sword Striker is the lightest. He also has the highest combat stamina, his energy consumption being the lowest, and can be used for aquatic combat, with most of his weapons being able to be used underwater.
    1. "Schwert Gewehr" anti-ship sword: of 15.78 m is the main and largest weapon of the Sword Strike. This is a large physical sword whose cutting edge is equipped with a laser blade. The large blade is designed to easily cut mobile suits in half or cut out sections of a ship such as cannons. Although "Schwert Gewehr" was designed to have a laser cannon on the lower end, Strike only used the prototype which lacked this feature and replaced it with a short beam blade emitter. Thanks to its sharp tip, the sword can also be used for aquatic combat. It is stored on the right side of the backpack when not in use.
    2. "Panzer Eisen" Rocket Anchor: Mounted on the left forearm, the front part is a rocket-propelled anchor that is pulled by a reinforced polymer cable. The anchor claw can open and close to capture or destroy the target. The cable reel housing is installed behind the front part, and the whole weapon can work as a shield with an anti-beam coating. The weapon can also be used for water combat and can defend against the Phonon Maser.
    3. "Midas Messer" Beam Boomerang: A missile weapon that emits a short beam blade from one end that can return to its owner after being thrown, often catching enemy units by surprise. It is equipped with a system similar to that of the Beam Saber, and the generated blade does not dissipate when it leaves the Gundam's hand thanks to a built-in high-capacity energy capacitor. It is stowed on Sword Strike's left shoulder pad when not in use. Normally the Beam Boomerang cannot be used underwater, but the manga adaptation shows the Sword Strike destroying a UMF-5 ZnO underwater by activating the weapon's beam emitter upon contact with the MS .
  • GAT-X105+AQM/E-X03 Launcher Strike Gundam: When equipped with the Launcher Striker, the GAT-X105 Strike Gundam becomes an MS designed for long-range bombardment, capable of shooting down fortresses and heavily armored targets . Besides the weaponry mounted on the Strike itself (which includes head-mounted CIWS cannons and combat knives), the Launcher Striker adds to the weaponry of the
MS the Large Hyper Pulse Cannon and Combined Arms Pod, which contains a 120mm Vulcan anti-ship gun and two 350mm launchers. The Hyper Pulse Cannon is the Launcher Striker's primary weapon, while the Combined Arms Pod plays a defensive role against enemy MS and missiles. Although the Launcher Strike has reduced mobility due to the weight of its heavy equipment, its capabilities make it a very effective mobile turret.
    1. "Agni" 320mm Hyper Pulse Cannon: The primary weapon of the Launcher Strike, this large beam cannon with an overall length of approximately 20m was one of the most powerful beam weapons mounted on a Mobile Suit when launched. It generates a shot of plasma energy in highly compressed critical form in the form of a microsecond burst pulse, easily destroying an MS with a single shot and blowing a hole in the wall of a space colony . Although its power consumption is high, it is possible to perform repeated shots for an extended period of time by connecting it to an external power source. It is mounted on the left side of the backpack via an arm, and held under the left shoulder when in use.
    2. Combo Weapon Pod: A secondary weapon of the Launcher Strike, it is a short-range defensive composite armament unit consisting of a 120mm Vulcan anti-ship gun and two 350mm guns. It is mounted on the right shoulder and can aim at multiple targets simultaneously. The Vulcan 120mm Anti-Ship Gun is effective at intercepting MS at close to medium range and can also be used for anti-ship combat. As for the 350 mm guns, they are missile launchers, but they can also fire various projectiles, including grenades.
  • GAT-X105+AQM/E-X04 Gunbarrel Strike Gundam: Originally intended by the Earth Alliance to be Mu La Flaga's personal unit, the Gunbarrel Strike mounts the AQM/E-X04 Gunbarrel Striker as a
Striker Pack, which allows the MS to use wire-guided gunbarrel pods (which can only be controlled by individuals with high spatial awareness, such as Mu) and possibly the Striker's gatling cannon. The Gunbarrel Strike is also armed with a Beam Riffle and Shield, but lacks a Beam Saber for close combat.
    1. Wire-guided Gunbarrel Pods: The Gunbarrel Strike Gundam is equipped with four pods, each of which can accommodate a GAU-758S railgun and two M70AMSAT missiles. These pods are usually mounted on the Striker, but can be detached and controlled by cables to attack an enemy from multiple directions. Additionally, cannons can function as additional boosters when attached to the Striker pack, increasing its speed or that of the MS it is docked to. The only downside to the pod system is that only pilots with high spatial awareness can use it.
    2. M58E4 Gatling Gun: Mounted on the bottom of the Striker Gunbarrel, it is positioned rearward when the Striker Pack is mounted on the Strike. It is unknown if it can be used by the Strike, and if so, it is likely used to fire at pursuing enemy units due to its position.
  • GAT-X105+AQM/E-YM1 Perfect Strike Gundam : The Perfect Strike Gundam is a configuration of the Strike Gundam equipped with the "AQM/E-YM1 Multiple Assault Striker", which incorporates features from the Wing, Sword and Launcher Striker Packs. A modified Striker Pack Wing serves as the core unit of the Multiple Assault Striker, its main wings set back slightly to allow mounting of the "Schwert Gewehr" anti-ship sword and "Agni" hyper pulse cannon, and four packs of batteries are attached to the rear to cope with increased power consumption.
Although the Multiple Assault Striker allows the Perfect Strike to fight at all ranges with powerful weapons, it has two major problems. On the one hand, the additional weight of the Multiple Assault Striker reduces mobility and, on the other hand, the wide variety of weapons makes it difficult to use them effectively. Due to these issues, the Perfect Strike was only deployed in combat once, but was able to demonstrate high operability due to the skill of its pilot, Mu La Flaga.
  • GAT-X105+P204QX Lightning Strike Gundam: The P204QX Lightning Striker is a Striker Pack designed to extend the use time of the GAT-X105 Strike Gundam by 150%, as requested by Earth Alliance forces. This is achieved by a pair of batteries mounted on the rear armor. Additionally, the Lightning Striker was equipped with a pair of backpack-mounted composite pods, which
incorporated vents, rangefinders and verniers. Thanks to its large battery reserve, the Lightning Strike Gundam is able to power up friendly MS (although how it does this is unclear). The Lightning Strike Gundam's primary armament is the Type 70-31 Railgun, designed for long-range precision shooting and can be stored in two separate parts under the forearms when not in use; in this state, the part under the right forearm can still be used as a ranged weapon.
    1. Type 70-31 Electromagnetic Cannon: The Lightning Striker's primary armament, the Type 70-31 Railgun ("railgun" is Orb's designation for linear cannon, or railgun) is an improved model of the Type 70 that combines compactness and firepower. It can be separated into two parts and stowed under the forearms of the MS. In this state, the portion below the right forearm can be used to fire Type 71 Enhanced Armor Piercing rounds. In its combined form, the Type 70-31 is approximately twice as long as the Strike Gundam. It is powered by a cable connected to the rear armor's right battery. When used in conjunction with the telemetry system mounted in the composite modules located on the left and right sides of the backpack, it is capable of long range firing with a probable circular error of 120 kilometers on Earth and more than 10 000 kilometers in space (with the correct magnetic field and gravity field corrections).
  • GAT-X105+P202QX Strike Gundam IWSP : The Integrated Weapons Striker Pack (IWSP) combines the main features of the Wing, Sword and Launcher Striker Packs, allowing the Strike Gundam to deal with different combat situations with a single set of equipment . It also grants the MS the ability to fly through the atmosphere. Although powerful, the IWSP is very complex and difficult to use. The IWSP was originally developed by the PMP company, but was abandoned due to a power issue. Orb's Morgenroete Inc. then acquired one of the prototypes and solved the energy problem using its technology
superior battery. Since the Strike IWSP does not have a ranged beam weapon, it can be equipped with a standard Beam Riffle if needed. After the war, the IWSP was revived by Actaeon Industries as the IWSP AQM/E-M1, which was functionally identical to the IWSP P202QX, despite some differences in appearance. Phantom Pain mounted this IWSP pack on his newly built Strike Gundam, whose Phase Shift colors are darker. Data obtained from this Strike Gundam IWSP was used in the development of the Strike Gundam E, as well as the Black, Jet, and Doppelhorn striker packs.

History

To counter ZAFT 's advanced MS during the First Alliance-PLANT War, the Atlantic Federation of the Earth Alliance (OMNI) secretly collaborated with Morgenroete to develop their own series of MS under Project G. On January 25 CE 71, five prototype Mobile Suit were secretly deployed to the space colony of Heliopolis. However, ZAFT got wind of the existence of these machines and infiltrated the colony, which

led to the Battle of Heliopolis, during which they stole four of the MS. ZAFT's only escape machine is the Strike Gundam, piloted first by Lt. Murrue Ramius and later by a civilian coordinator named Kira Yamato . Kira rewrites the Strike's incomplete operating system to be fully effective and uses the Gundam to fight off the invading ZAFT forces, but he cannot prevent the colony's destruction. Following this battle, the Strike is entrusted to Kira. Kira joins the crew of the Archangel and fights against the forces of ZAFT during the journey to Earth.

During the ship's journey to JOSH-A in Alaska, Kira fought and defeated several ZAFT aces, including Andrew Waltfeld and his TMF/A-803 LaGOWE during the Battle of Talbadiya and the four stolen Gundams during the Third Equatorial Skirmish. On April 17, Kira fights an intense battle against his former friend Asran Zala in his GAT-X303 Aegis Gundam during the Battle of the Marshall Islands. During the battle, the Strike is severely damaged by the Aegis Gundam 's self-destruct, but its remains are recovered by the Orb Union. Kira himself was rescued by Junk Guild member Lowe Guele and brought to the PLANTs, where he stole the ZGMF-X10A Freedom Gundam with the help of Lacus Clyne.

The Orb Union eventually rebuilds the Strike from the damaged remains and equips it with the new Natural-use OS. Following the defection of the crew of the Archangel who took refuge in Orb at the beginning of June, the Strike became the personal MS of ace Mu La Flaga. Mu's Strike fought alongside Kira's Freedom and also took part in the battle

d'Orb to protect the country against the invasion of the Earth Alliance. During the Battle of Mendel, Mu used the Launcher Strike to take on his longtime rival, Rau Le Creuset, who was piloting the new ZAFT MS, the ZGMF-600 GuAIZ. Unfortunately, the Launcher Strike was no match for the GuAIZ and was damaged during the battle. During the Second Battle of Jachin Due, the Strike Wing was heavily damaged by the Gundam Providence ZGMF-X13A piloted by Rau, which forced Mu to retreat to the Archangel. Before he can enter the ship, he shields the Archangel from a positronic cannon blast from the LCAM-01XB Dominion ship. The positron blast destroyed the Strike Wing, but Mu managed to survive the attack.

  • GAT-X105+AQM/E-X04 Gunbarrel Strike Gundam: Although the Strike never uses the Gunbarrel Striker due to Mu's defection from the Earth Alliance in Mobile Suit Gundam SEED, it is possible to change the events of Tomo to kimi to Koko's, and make that Mu uses the Gunbarrel Strike during the Battle of Mendel and the events that follow. To do this, Kira Yamato must work on the MBF-M1 Astray OS without looking for Birdy. This allows Kira to complete the OS faster than in the anime, causing Erica Simmons to give Archangel a spare M1 Astray to replace Mu's FX-550 Skygrasper . If Kira visits the MS hangar after the Battle of Orb, he will find Mu happy to talk about how he got used to piloting an MS, despite feeling bad for his now obsolete Moebius Zero. Hearing this, Erica offers to modify the Moebius Zero into a new custom Striker Pack.
  • GAT-X105+AQM/E-YM1 Perfect Strike Gundam: The Perfect Strike Gundam was piloted by Mu La Flaga during the defense of Orb against invading Earth Alliance forces. With his multitude of weapons, Mu was able to destroy numerous Alliance GAT-01 Strike Daggers and also fought against the GAT-X131 Calamity Gundam. The Perfect Strike was not used again after this battle.
  • GAT-X105+P204QX Lightning Strike Gundam: The high performance of the Strike GAT-X105 came with high power consumption. That's why the OMNI Enforcer asked the IDEX company to develop a Striker Pack capable of increasing the duration of use of the device by 150%. However, when the power pack size was increased, the added weight required more thrusters to compensate for the mobility drop, which generated more waste heat, requiring a new cooling system, which increased the weight even more, creating a vicious circle. Unable to resolve this issue, IDEX shelved development of the Lightning Striker. Development of the Lightning Striker was then continued by Orb's Union arms manufacturer, Morgenroete, who succeeded in developing high-capacity power supplies and a high-performance miniaturized cooling system, thus solving the problems that affected him before. The Lightning 1 unit was assembled aboard the Izumo-class battleship Kusanagi after its escape from Orb, and was fitted to the Strike Gundam piloted by Mu La Flaga. It was destroyed in a battle that happened unexpectedly during a test. According to data collected up to its destruction, the Lightning Strike Gundam was more effective as an energy resupply unit for allied MS than as an offensive weapon. In addition, several people claimed that power supplies meeting the requirements of the OMNI Enforcer already existed on the civilian market and that the development of the Lightning Striker only continued due to negotiations between the military- industrialist and the leadership of the army. The truth is unclear. The damaged Lightning Striker was later repaired, and in CE73 it was fitted with a GAT-01A2R 105 Slaughter Dagger piloted by Gard Dell Hokuha, creating the Lightning 105 Slaughter Dagger. The Lightning Striker's 70-31 electromagnetic cannon was then used in an attempt to sink the Martian ship Acidalium, but the Lightning 105 Slaughter Dagger was quickly defeated by Isaac Mau's TMF/A-802W2 Kerberos BuCUE Hound and the Lightning Striker was defeated. again destroyed.
  • GAT-X105+P202QX Strike Gundam IWSP: The P202QX Integrated Weapons Striker Pack was to be used by the MBF-02 Strike Rouge as a general-purpose Striker Pack. However, its controls being too complicated for the Strike Rouge pilot, it was replaced by the Striker Pack Aile. Since the Strike Rouge is almost identical to the original Strike Gundam GAT-X105, the Strike itself could also use the IWSP. After the war, Actaeon Industries recreated the IWSP pack and gave it the model number AQM/E-M1. The AQM/E-M1 pack was installed on a newly built Strike Gundam piloted by Sven Cal Bayang. Data obtained from this Strike Gundam IWSP was used to develop the Strike E, Noir striker , Jet striker and Doppelhorn striker. Other units of the AQM/E-M1 IWSP were produced and used by the Earth Alliance MS during World War II.

Did you know?

  • The Strike displays the text "CINQUE X-105" on its head (front camera location). "Cinque" means "Five" in Italian and likely refers to the fact that the MS is the fifth unit developed under the Earth Alliance's "Project G".
  • The Strike is the only one of the original five G-guns to feature the traditional air vents.
  • The "Grand Slam" anti-ship sword is included in the Strike Gundam Perfect Grade Kit and the Strike Gundam IWSP Master Grade Kit.
  • A number of models have shown that the Strike can combine with the Striker Wing, Sword, and Launcher Packs at the same time. This form is officially called Perfect Strike Gundam in the HD Remaster version of Gundam SEED in which it makes its animated debut. It is said to be the original concept behind the ZGMF-X10A Freedom Gundam and the inspiration for the ZGMF-X42S Destiny Gundam .
  • The Aile Strike takes its name from the wings that carry on its backpack.
  • The "Panzer Eisen" is similar to the hand anchor of the RAG-79 Aqua GM.
  • A mistake was made in the remastered version of Episode 37. In Episode 37 and the previous episode, Mu can be seen ejecting two of the Multiple Assault Striker's batteries. However, in a later scene with the Buster, we see that the Perfect Strike still has all four batteries on the striker.
  • In the HD Remaster's third Opening, Mu fought Rau Le Creuset's ZGMF-515 CGUE in the Perfect Strike. However, this never happened in the series.
  • The Multiple Assault Striker's model number, AQM/E-YM1, is nearly identical to the model number Actaeon Industries assigns to its version of the IWSP Striker (AQM/E-M1), which is based on a similar concept.
  • In the Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Re: manga, Kira Yamato used the Perfect Strike during his fight against several TMF/A-802 BuCUE.
