ASW-G-66 Gundam Kimaris Vidar

ASW-G-66 Gundam Kimaris Vidar

The ASW-G-66 Gundam Kimaris Vidar is a Mobile Suit introduced in the

second season of the anime Mobile Suit Gundam IRON-BLOODED ORPHANS. It is piloted by Gaelio Bauduin.

Features

After Vidar removed his mask and revealed himself to be Gaelio Bauduin, the ASW-G-XX Gundam Vidar was upgraded to Gundam Kimaris Vidar, reclaiming the name Kimaris. This conversion was carried out quickly, as it was planned from the beginning. The Alaya-Vijnana Type E of the Gundam Vidar is retained, but the third Ahab reactor has been removed as it only served to hide the true identity of the MS, which is no longer necessary. The Kimaris Vidar Gundam is intended for the decisive battle against McGillis Fareed and his ASW-G-01 Gundam Bael. This variant of Kimaris has existed since the Calamity War era.

The Kimaris Vidar Gundam's equipment is the same as those used during the Calamity War era, and intended to give it an advantage in zero gravity combat, making it the opposite of the Kimaris Trooper Gundam, whose the equipment is intended for ground combat. In addition to having a piercing spear and a sword as his primary weapons, Kimaris Vidar is also armed with a pair of drilling spikes in his knees, and two shields. With its variety of weapons, the machine has the potential to be used for any range, and is considered to have a high level of completion among Kimaris variants. Like the Kimaris Gundam and the Kimaris Trooper Gundam, the Kimaris Vidar Gundam's primary fighting style involves spear attacks.

  • Alaya-Vijnana Type E

A pseudo version of the Alaya-Vijnana system based on Ein Dalton's remaining brain, with his Alaya-Vijnana installed as a support system. When activated, the cables connect to the Alaya-Vijnana Type E implant in the back of Gaelio's neck and link it to the MS's system counterpart, which then takes over his body and controls the machine in its place. It is as effective as the real Alaya-Vijnana system, with Gaelio still in charge of target selection. As the Alaya-Vijnana system was originally designed to exceed human limits to combat Mobile Armor, it exceeds the limits of the human body and causes great strain on the brain. However, thanks to Ein's brain in the Alaya-Vijnana Type E, Gaelio can pilot the Kimaris Vidar Gundam to its full potential without endangering his own body. The system is most effective in a one-on-one battle, but has some difficulty with a melee battle. Gaelio's implant also helps him walk.

Armaments

  • Drill Lance: A large spear designed for the use of the Kimaris Vidar, it is the symbolic weapon of the MS. The tip section of the lance is capable of rotating, which improves the loads powered by the machine's propeller. The Drill lance is also equipped with two 200 mm cannons and two integrated Dainsleif launchers. The Dainsleifs are loaded with special 8.5 m long KEP bullets, which are stored in the MS shield. A thruster is mounted behind each 200mm cannon and can be used to further increase the power of the lance's thrust.
  • Sword: Made of the rare alloy used in Mobile Suits, its blade is sharpened for cutting attacks as well as penetrating thrusts. It is used when the MS is caught in close combat situations where it is not possible to perform hit-and-run attacks. Mounted behind the left side armor when not in use.
  • Drill Knee: A rotating stack punker made of the same material as the Mobile Suits' frame is built into each knee. It is used to attack an approaching enemy machine that has escaped the Kimaris Vidar's spear thrust, or other close combat situations where machine attacks are not possible. The two holes on the sides of the knees are used to evacuate gas when the drill knee is used.
  • Shield: Defensive weaponry attached to the two sub-arms on the back. Thanks to their freedom of movement, the two shields protect the MS from enemy attacks. The shields have built-in thrusters, and they are positioned at the rear of the machine to focus their thruster output during high-speed movements. Each shield also stores 4 special KEP rounds for the drill lance's Dainsleif launchers, as well as the launchers' power unit. When using the Dainsleif, one of the shields extends and attaches to the drill lance, charging the latter with the projectile. The projectile is launched using power from the shield-mounted power unit. The slots in the extended part of the shield contain the power unit's electrical discharge unit and will light up while firing.

History

After revealing his true identity and confronting McGillis Fareed on Earth,

Gaelio Bauduin and his ASW-G-XX Gundam Vidar returned to the Arianrhod fleet where the mobile suit was reconfigured into the Gundam Kimaris Vidar. He then used it to fight McGillis and his ASW-G-01 Gundam Bael, but Isurugi Camice in his V08Re-0526 Helmwige Reincar intervened. The battle led to Gaelio killing Isurugi and splitting Helmwig Reincar in two. The next time Gaelio sorted out the Gundam, Kimaris Vidar was also his last known one, and he fought McGillis to a draw that ended after both sides took heavy damage. The Kimaris Vidar Gundam was later put into storage after Gaelio retired from piloting.
